Objective Synaptic transmission is conducted by neurotransmitters released from nerve terminals.Neurotrans-mitter release is regulated both positively and negatively by multiple mechanisms and its regulation is believed to be one of the important mechanisms of synaptic plasticity underlying learning and memory.Release of Glutamate and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in primary cortical and hippocampal neurons,two major neurotransmitters in the CNS,excitatory and inhibitory respectively,is one of the key indexes of neuronal function.In addition,it is well known that gangliosides,a series of glycolipids,play pivotal roles in nervous system.Methods All of the release assays were carried out at 37 ℃.
