There were some violent earthquakes in the past decade. Many engineers and researchers focus on the reliability of post-seismic urban road network.Since post-seismic urban road network is a large-scale complex system, the reliability of the road network cannot be easily determined by a traditional serial or parallel system,or even a combination of the two.The real root of the problem is how to reflect the weight of each road section in a post-seismic urban road network. This paper proposes a model to present the weight of road sections in the post-seismic urban road network. The Edge-Betweenness centrality,an indicator of the relative importance of a road section,of a road network depending on the buildings surrounding the road sections is applied to achieve the weight of the sections. An assessment system of the post-seismic urban road network based on geography information system (GIS) is developed to computes the weight of road sections. The road network in Shijiazhuang, composed of 699 valid sections and 5,705 valid buildings,is employed to validate this model. Results show that the proposed model has the potential of not only obtaining the weights of a large-scale road network but also exploiting the opportunity made available by automation in the treatment, spatial query and interpretation of space data.
