TH17 cells, which have been characterized as a lineage of effector helper T cells that produce IL-17A, IL-17F, IL-21 and IL-22, has been suggested to be the critical drivers of autoimmune inflammation.TH17 cells are present at the sites of tissue inflammation and are associated with the induction of many autoimmune diseases, including multiple sclerosis, inflammatory bowel disease and rheumatoid arthritis. The differentiation of TH17 cells is instructed and critically regulated by various cytokines in the microenvironment in the body, which drive intracellular signaling process and transcription profiles that determine the cell fate.
