A variety of free flaps were successfully used for mandible mandibular defects following surgical resection. The data of 33 patients who underwent reconstruction or who were in second stage were retrospectively analyzed. The segmental patients with the mandible defect beyond 10 cm.One incidence of flap loss was observed among the eighty-one osseointegrated dental implants that were placed in 25 patients; adequate patients(63.64%) exhibited complete rehabilitation.Eighteen of 21patients demonstrated teeth ocdusion with the new alveolar bone. The donor-site morbidity was moderate and most of the patients were satisfied with their functional and aesthetic result. Our results reveal that the DCIA is a reliable method for reconstructing hemi-mandibular body defects with an acceptably low morbidity rate. The iliac crest is a safe foundation for the placement of osseointegrated implants, provides good rehabilitation effect, and further improves the quality of life of the patient.
