Abscisic acid (ABA) is produced by plants, algae, fungi, bacteria and it has been reported in mammals.In plants, the evidence establishes that ABA alleviates the plant from hydric stress by stomata closure that restricts water losses but also CO2 diffusion and so limits photosynthesis.
