Fullerenes as one of the most interesting allotrope of carbon have been underdeveloped in energy storage because a high temperature(up to 2000 ℃)or the addition of templates or activators are always necessary for creating porosity and increasing the specific surface area(SSA).Herein,we heat C60 microsheets at a relatively low temperature directly without using any templates or activators and convert them into three dimensional(3D)mesoporous graphitized carbons. The sample obtained at 1000 ℃ presents a high SSA(1507 m2 g-1),hierarchical pore character and a high specific capacitance(330.7 F g-1 at 0.2 A g-1).Furthermore,its cycling stability is excellent with capacitance retention of 97%over 50 000 cycles at 2 A g-1.These results demonstrate that the 3D hierarchical porous microsheets derived from C60 can be promising materials for energy storage.
