Keratinocyte growth factor-2(KGF-2)plays a key role in lung development, and pretreatment with KGF-2 in acute lung injury has been characterized in shor-term lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced acute lung injury. The intratracheal instillation of LPS at doses of 4 ng/kg is followed by an early phase characterized by increases in BAL fluid albumin, and proinflammatory cytokines and a later phase 24–48 h after instillation.
