  Advances in polymer materials combined with high-accuracy,large-area printing technologies have opened new avenues for the realization of printable integrated optical systems on complex polymer foil substrates.Light emitters and detectors may be combined with waveguide-based sensors,including interferometers and resonators,leading to optical circuits with high functionality fabricated on flexible foils.
