Plants have evolved complicated mechanisms to respond and adapt to unfavorable environmental conditions.GI is a key component of the photoperiod pathway to regulate flowering,also has some effects on circadian rhythms.Besides,it has been demonstrated that the gi mutant shows obviously different tolerance to low temperature,oxidative stress or drought compared with WT.
