The yellow scorpion Tityus serrulatus (Buthidae family) is considered the most dangerous scorpion in South America and responsible for most of the fatal cases,particularly in children.Tityus serrulatus venom contains many bioactive substances,among which α-and β-type long-chain Na+-channel toxins (NaTxs) and short-chain α-type K+-channel toxins (αKTxs) (for a review,see Cologna et al.2009).
