Background Breast carcinoma is very rare in childhood, accounting for less than 1% of all childhood malignancies and is especially rare in boys.Secretory breast carcinoma (SBC) is the commonest type of breast carcinoma in children. Methods This is a case report of a 10 years old boydiagnosed to have SBC.In this article,we discuss the diagnosis and treatment options for SBC,based on a literature review. Results Microscopic examination revealed the classical features of secretory carcinoma with a microcystic pattern with abundant intra and extracellular PAS-positive secretory material.Immunohistochemically, tumor cells were positive for S-100,negative for ER,PR and HER2.Surgery is regarded as the primary treatment of SBC,including local ression (conservative surgery),simple mastectomy and mastectomy with sentinel lymph node biopsy or level Ⅱ axillary lymph node dissection. Conclusions SBC is a low-malignant breast tumor, and it has a good prognosis.Surgery is the primary treatment of SBC,but there is no published guideline for surgical treatment. The methods of surgical treatment and the role of adjuvant therapy, particularly for young patients, remain controversial.
