Economic losses due to Fusarium head blight infection of small grain cereals is mostly due to the deposition of mycotoxins such as trichothecenes in the grains.The disease is caused by a mixture of Fusarium species.In comparison to the highly virulent Fusarium species F.graminearum, F.poae is a weak pathogen but produces a more toxic blend of mycotoxins.
