Catalytic asymmetric hydrogenation of ketones with chiral transition metal catalysts is one of the most powerful methods for the preparation of chiral alcohols.Chiral 1,2-amino alcohols are very common structural motifs in a wide range of bioactive natural products.The asymmetric hydrogenation of α-amino ketones with chiral rhodium and ruthenium complexes bearing chiral diphosphine ligands has developed for the enantioselective synthesis of chiral 1,2-amino alcohols during the past decades.However, highly efficient chiral catalysts for these transformations are still scarce and the efficiency of this hydrogenation reaction needs to be improved.
