  Diabetic retinopathy (DR),one of the common complications of diabetes,is a leading cause of vision impairment and blindness in adults.The N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA)-type glutamate receptor (NMDAR)-mediated excitotoxicity is thought to contribute to retinal neural cell apoptosis and dysfunction in this disease.This study aims to investigate whether diabetes induces alterations in the expression levels of NMDAR subunits.
