Objective: Imatinib mesylate, a selective tyrosine kinase inhibitor of KIT and platelet-derived growth factor receptor-α,is the first-line treatment for inoperable or metastatic gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST).The tolerability and long-term outcomes of imatinib treatment on patients with advanced GIST have rarely been reported, hence, the limited data.ibis study aimed to address the limited availability of data. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on patients treated at UKMMC, UMMC, and HKL from January 2002to December 2012.A total of 107 patients who met the predetermined criteria were included in the study.Relevant data on the patient, disease, and treatment were obtained from patient medical records. The data were analyzed for response,progression-free survival, and overall survival.
