  For many applications materials with monolithic structures with a sufficient mechanical stability and a hierarchical porosity are needed.Adjustment of pore sizes on different length scales and the generation of monolithic structures at the same time can be achieved by using emulsion based processes.For adsorbents in particular a controllable surface characteristics in terms of hydrophobicity/hydrophilicity are required.An adjustment of surface characteristics is possible by the generation of multi-functional hybrid ceramics with different pyrolysis temperatures.
