Supercontinuum generation in various silica fibers has attracted the interest of researchers in recent years due to its extensive applications in nonlinear optics.Highly nonlinear silica fiber with engineered dispersion makes it possible to obtain broad SC spectrum by bench-top device with easy maintenance.Nevertheless, silica fiber has two main limitations: low nonlinearity, and poor transmission range in mid-IR.Tellurite glass fiber can offset these limitations well.Its nonlinearity can be higher than silica fiber by several orders of magnitude, and it can be transparent in mid-IR.In this talk, I will present our recent researches on novel tellurite microstructured fibers and supercontinuum generation in them.The fibers include wagon-wheel fiber,suspended nanowire, composite microstructured fiber, etc.The supercontinuua are generated by low threshold pumping in fs, ps, or quasi-CW regime.We also investigated the supercontinuum generation in tellurite glass through filamentation.The main advangtage of supercontinuum by glass is that: the negative influence of accumulated loss can be reduced greatly, so the transparent window of glass is much larger than fiber.By using a piece of tellurite glass we have obtained ultra-broadband supercotinuum generation which almost covered the whole transparent range of tellurite glass.
