The synaptic function of acid-sensing ion channel 1a(ASIC1a)is emerging to be understood.Here,we identify a crucial role of ASIC1a in synaptic plasticity at mouse insular synapses.Whereas genetic ablation and pharmacological inhibition of ASIC1a reduced the induction probability of long-term depression(LTD),they did not affect long-term potentiation in insular cortex.
