Background: Transcriptional factor c-myc has an important role in the regulation of many cellular programs including cellular senescence, a stress-responsive program limiting the proliferation of damaged cells and leading to stable cell-cycle arrest.c-myc overexpression during chronic liver injury causes senescence thr.ough the induction of oxidative stress, inappropriate DNA synthesis and the abrogation of DNA repair. However, the mechanisms of regulating cellular senescence and functional heterogeneity during hepatobiliary injuries are underdefined. This study aimed to investigate the functional role of c-myc regulated biliary cellular senescence and functional heterogeneity duringprimary sclerosing cholangitis.
