Accelerator driven system(ADS)was proposed for the treatment of spent nuclear fuel.In principal,it takes together the advantages of transmutation of spent nuclear fuel as well as the safety.However,material is one of the main bottlenecks for the development of ADS since its service behavior determines the systems feasibility,safety and economy.Lead-Bismuth Eutectic(LBE)as one choice of ADS coolant.Focused on the requirement of material working in the LBE environment,a new structural material named SIMP steel was developed and tested.It was found that SIMP steel has good performances on the resistances to intense particles irradiation,high temperature as well as LBE corrosion.In this report,recent progress on the studies of SIMP steel will be introduced.
