Sulfate and nitrate of anthropogenic origin, and major elements such as aluminum of crustal origin are transported from the Asian continent over the North Pacific, and from the North American, the South American and the Australian continents over the South Pacific.Airborne non-sea-salt (nss-) sulfate is anthropogenic origin as well as marine biogenic and volcanic origins over the Oceans.Anthropogenic sulfur is emitted mainly from the continents, and transported to the ocean with gas-to-particle conversion together with various species such as trace metals and major ions. However,it is not enough to elucidate behaviors and chemical forms of trace metals and association with sulfate over the Pacific Ocean. The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship between anthropogenic and crustal composition in marine aerosols over the Pacific Ocean.
