The famous novel “The Gift of Humboldt,” a famous American Jewish writer and representative of the Nobel Prize laureate Saul Bellow, fully demonstrates the identity crisis faced by artists Humboldt and Sterling in the materialistic American modern society. The deepening swagger between brotherhood through the contractualization of ethics to the evolution of contractual ethics and the destruction of the law of contractual ethics led to the deviation of their relationship from complete mutual trust to separation. Their contractual ethical relations have experienced three stages of conclusion, abandonment and reversion, which correspond to the contractualization of ethics, the destruction of the contractual spirit, and the transformation of contractual ethics.
