The Ugi1 and Passerini2 multicomponent reactions(MCRs)involve three or more starting materials reacting together to form the final product.3 This ideal synthesis was thought to be the most efficient tool for the discovery of novel pharmacologically active molecular probes of particular interest to the pharmaceutical industry.4 Herein,We successfully used methyl 2-formylbenzoate as a starting material in four Ugi-type reactions,and four scaffolds were obtained.
