瓣甲鱼类为盾皮鱼纲(Placodermi)一个分布较广的化石类群,在北美、欧洲、澳洲及亚洲等地的泥盆系中均有发现(R.H.,Denison,1978)。我国是该类化石最重要的产区之一,已描述的属种(刘玉海,1973;潘江、王士涛、刘运鹏,1975;潘江、王士涛,1978;刘时藩,1981;潘江、霍福臣等,1987;王士涛、曹仁关,1988;Liu Yuhai,1991;Zhu Min, 1991;姬书安、潘江,1996)数量约占世界各国已报道的一半,华南被公认为瓣甲鱼类重要的分布区之一。潘江于60~80年代曾多次到滇东一带进行野外考察,在最近的整理工作
The corkfish is a widely distributed fossil group of the Placodermi, found in Devonian systems in North America, Europe, Australia and Asia (R.H., Denison, 1978). Our country is one of the most important producing areas of this kind of fossils, and the described genera (Liu Yuhai, 1973; Pan Jiang, Wang Shitao, Liu Yunpeng, 1975; Pan Jiang, Wang Shitao, 1978; Liu Shifan, 1981; Pan Jiang, Huo Fuchen et al., 1987 ; Wang Shitao, Cao Ren Guan, 1988; Liu Yuhai, 1991; Zhu Min, 1991; Ji Shian, Pan Jiang, 1996) The number accounts for about half of the countries in the world.
