Systematic research on microfluidic based separation and identification for bioanalysis as well as their potential applications in medical diagnosis and drug screening were carried out in our lab.The chip fabrication capabilities have been extended into design and fabricate chips with higher degree of complexity in different materials, quartz.glass, PMMA, PDMS, and hydrogel.A set of methods for surface modification of micro-channels on such materials were developed, which result in better reproducibility and higher efficiency in protein and peptide analysis.Various functional units besides the separation, such as sampling, mechanical pumps/valves, dialysis membrane, SPE, PCR reaction, cell culture etc were integrated.
