Objective: Combining with the dental implant surgery, we aimed to reconstruct the different types of alveolar bone defects by multiple ways of alveolar ridge bone augmentation methods. Methods: Alveolar bone defects can be divided into: horizontal alveolar bone defects, vertical alveolar bone defects, vertical and horizontal composite defects and completely alveolar bone defects. As the cases of horizontal partial alveolar bone defects, we usually considered GBR technique if the primary stability of the implant obtained. In the cases of severe horizontal alveolar bone defect, if the primary implant stability is difficult to obtain, we often use autogenous bone block onlay approach to increase the thickness of the alveolar bone.
