University English teaching is aimed at fostering the ability of students in the application of English.Therefore, the teaching media at English classrooms of higher learning schools is necessary to attach higher importance to the communication with students.Subsequently, the students can comprehend the very essence of English from the learning process, and then make the most of what they have learnt and improve the ability in the application of English.However, there is a difference among students in English foundation, and their vocabularies are relatively limited as well, English teachers have but to use body languages such as facial expressions and gestures as classroom instructive languages.Body languages are efficient instrument and supplementation of university English multimedia teaching in spicing up English classrooms and visualizing English knowledge.This paper discusses the importance of applying body language in the multimediabased English language teaching in universities, introduces some commonly used body languages, details application and some important matters of body language to university English teaching.
