Methods: We classified 92 male asymptomatic alcoholics (ages 51.65±6.04 years) in mild, moderate and severe groups.30 male healthy subjects (age 50.33±8.24 years) were also recruted.Indexed left atrial (LA) phasic volumes (max, min and pre-atrial contraction volume) were measured from LA volume waveforms, with which passive emptying (LAPEF) and active emptying (LAAEF) indices were also calculated.
