Ballast used as an element for load distribution in the traditional ballasted tracks is dedicated as a disadvantaged component for high-speed-lines.In the last 40 years numerous slab tracks(ballastless tracks)have been developed with the aim to improve the track stability and to reduce the maintenance costs.This paper describes the required testing and approval procedures of new track systems operated in Europe.
