Owing to its unique chemical reactivity, cysteine plays various important roles in protein functions, such as nucleophilic catalysis, redox regulation and structural stabilization. In addition,it also serves as a major candidate subject to a diversified array of post-translational modifications. In this talk,I will first introduce an activity-based protein profiling (ABPP) technology that aims to systematically identify reactive cysteines directly from proteome.
