Objective: To investigate effects of hypertension on the changes in gap junction between vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) in mesenteric resistance artery (MA) of spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR).Methods: Whole-cell patch clamp,pressure myograph, real time quantitative RT-PCR (qRT-PCR) and Western-blot analyses were used to study the differences in expression and function of gap junction between MA VSMCs of SHR and control normotensive Wistar-Kyoto (WKY) rats.
