Polystyrene (PS) opal photonic crystals were prepared by nano-ball self-assembly.Point(Fig.la),equal triangle line(Fig,lb),stereo pyramid (Fig.2) self-assembly defects style were reported with lowest energy and the mechanism was discussed.As we know,point defect might be caused by the ball missing or diameter heterogeneous.It can be reduced by selecting homogenous mono-disperse emulsion.Line defect might be caused by energy gradient differences during the solvent volatilization and photonic crystal growth.We might suggest that the equal triangle line defects are confirmed to the lowest energy law and it is a stable style.
