Indoor air quality (IAQ) has attracted more attentions since Sarse and H1N1 virus break out.Ventilation as an efficient way can improve IAQ through the total heat exchanger [1].To avoid desorption of the adsorbed VOCs indoor,high selective hygroscopic adsorbent,which adsorbs more water vapor and less VOCs,plays an crucial role in IAQ [2-3].In this paper,novel "host-guest" type selective hygroscopic adsorbents were prepared by an impregnation method using silica gel as matrix and hygroscopic polyacrylate sodium as functional substance.Adsorption performances for VOCs and water vapor were evaluated under different humidities in the presence of toluene as typical VOC.It was found that the prepared hygroscopic adsorbents have comparable moisture adsorption capacity to the commercial silica gel,whereas they adsorb much less toluene.Under 85% relative humidity (RH),the adsorption capacity of the prepared hygroscopic adsorbents for toluene is 0.25 times that of commercial silica gel,and the selectivity for moisture to toluene increases by 6 times.In conclusion,novel "host-guest" type selective hygroscopic adsorbents were prepared,and they show excellent adsorption capacity and high selectivity for moisture.
