　　Significant progress on our biological understanding of cancer biology has been achieved over the last years revealing relevant cancer hallmarks and a better understanding of the major cancer signalling pathways and their complex networks.This opened up a plethora of opportunities for clinical research.We now experience significant improvements in patient survival with drugs interfering with pathways such as the HER-2, the VEGFR, EGFR and MAPK and ALK pathways.
