Pleomorphic Adenoma Gene 1 (PLAG1) is the founding member of a subfamily of zinc finger transcription factor genes.PLAG1, on human chromosome 8q12, encodes an essentially developmentally regulated protein and is causally implicated in human salivary gland pleomorphic adenomas, lipoblastomas, hepatoblastomas, and also AML, suggesting a more general importance for PLAG 1 in tumorigenesis.To study the oncogenic potential of PLAG 1 in mice, we developed PLAG 1 transgenic mouse strains, in which activation of overexpression of the transgene as well as the tissue distribution of such overexpression can be manipulated by Cre-mediated activation and targeted expression, respectively.Two independent PLAG 1 transgenic mouse strains, i.e.PTMS 1 and PTMS2, were generated.
