The separation of chiral compounds is an interesting and challenging topic of research in many application areas such as pharmaceutical, biomedical and environmental fields where bioactivity of many molecules is related to their chirality.Almost half of the drugs used in pharmaceutical/medicine fields are chiral and very frequently the pharmacological effect is restricted in most cases to one of the enantiomers.Usually, GC, HPLC or supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) have been the techniques frequently employed for the separation of enantiomers. However, other techniques like capillary electrophoresis (CE) or CEC have proven to be powerful for this task. This is also the case of nano-liquid chromarography (nano-LC) as expected from previous HPLC applications.
