The control of organ growth by extrinsic and intrinsic factors is a fundamental aspect of animal development which remains poorly understood. The Drosophila wing imaginal disc is a popular model to investigate mechanisms of growth control. The morphogen Dpp has long been considered as a general growth promoter during Drosophila wing development. It is an ongoing debate whether the Dpp gradient is required for the uniform cell proliferation observed in the wing imaginal disc.In this study, we systematically investigated how Dpp signaling pathway regulates growth during wing development.
