The following thesis aims to develop its subject on Foreign Direct Investment on the economic reality of a Chile an emerging economy. Chile thrives to achieve economic development fighting for a place on the first economical order by the means of several constitutional mechanisms and tools in hopes of outgrowing the sub development. To achieve this goal, the thesis have applied a quantitative method to analyze the investment income flux from 1980 to 2014, period over which Chile is stated as the second highest receiver of Investment according in the Latin American Association for Integration countries. Also, in order to explain the qualitative aspects of the investment decision, the Chilean economy was submitted against a SWOT technique analyses that elucidate the positive and negative outlooks who determinants the investment on foreign soil and helps the country to attract new capitals that, eventually, will grow and strength their economy and will get the country closer to the soughed development.This analysis concludes that Chile should establish a Pro-productive strategy, that could change their primary goods exports into a more diversified productive matrix, which in turn, will attract more, and better, foreign direct investment to their economy.
