First emerging in Europe and the United States, the new middle class in a real sense did not form until 1960s and 70s after World WarⅡin Japan and ultimately led to Japan’s "mid-stream society".Based on the analysis of formation of Japan’s new middle class academic effectiveness, it is found that in the academic society education plays a very important role in the formation and growth of the new middle class. To develop and strengthen our new middle class, build a harmonious and stable society, we should devote major efforts to developing higher education. Different levels and types of higher education, in particular the emergence and development of higher vocational education will produce a large number of people who are suitable for the jobs of different levels in modern society.
