Objective To observe the expression of angiopoietin-2 and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and to investigate their relationship with angiogenesis, invasion / metastasis and prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma relationship. Methods Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of Ang-2 and VEGF in HCC tissues. The microvessel density (MVD) of tumor was detected by immunohistochemical staining of CD34. Results The expression of Ang-2 in hepatocellular carcinoma was significantly correlated with pathological staging and portal vein invasion (P <0.05). MVD was significantly up-regulated in HCC tissues with positive VEGF and Ang-2 expression, and the prognosis was poor (P <0.05). Conclusions The co-expression of Ang-2 and VEGF in hepatocellular carcinoma can induce tumor angiogenesis and is related to the degree of malignancy and prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma.
