After the end of World War II, although Germany was divided and occupied, the four major occupying powers explicitly expressed their desire to maintain the economic unity of Germany through the “economic principles of managing and disposing of Germany in the early days of occupation.” As a concrete example of this goal, intraregional trade in Germany came into being. However, from the very beginning of the establishment of intraregional trade in Germany, it has never given full play to its role as a bridge between the occupied territories. On the contrary, it has increasingly become another corner of the political struggle between big powers. Its whole course of development not only shows the cooperation and confrontation of the four occupying powers on the post-war Germany issue from another perspective, but also clearly outlines how postwar Germany was gradually divided from economic split to political split process.
