Ethnic regional autonomy with Chi￣nese characteristics is a proper way to handle eth￣nic issues, and is a fundamental national political system established in the Constitution. The legisla￣tion in ethnic autonomous regions is important,and creates the basic laws for realizing autonomous rights. The legislation in ethnic autonomous re￣gions is a generic term which refers to the activities that the people’s congresses of the ethnic autono￣mous regions undertake,to formulate,amend and a￣bolish autonomous regulations and specific regula￣tions in accordance with relevant provisions found in the Constitution, the Law of Ethnic Regional Au￣tonomy and the Law of Legislation, and which are based on local ethnic political, economic and cul￣tural characteristics.
