抽象名词大多数衍生自形容词或动词,表示性质、状态、动作等抽象概念,除不加冠词、无复数形式等一般用法外,还有一些特殊用法:1.All+抽象名词=very+该抽象名词的形容词。表示极大地体现该抽象名词所指的性质或情况,起加强语气的作用,如:1)Please go on.I’m all attention.(=very attentive)请继续说下去,我在倾听。2)He is all diligence.(=very diligent)他确是非常勤奋。3)I am aIl astonishment.(=very much astonished)我极其惊诧。4)Jane was all eagerness to hear the end of the story.(=very
Most of the abstract nouns are derived from adjectives or verbs. They represent abstract concepts such as nature, state, and action. In addition to the general usage such as no articles and no plural, there are some special usages: 1. All+abstract nouns=very+the abstract nouns adjective.
