中国有许多丰富燦烂的古代石刻,其中最著名的有敦煌千佛洞、龙门石窟、云冈石窟等。有一处是在近两年才引起中外人士极大兴趣的,这就是大足石刻。它位于四川省重庆市西北一百六十公里的丘陵山区,有公路相通。大足石刻起于唐末(九世纪末),盛于两宋(九六○——一二七九年),造像五万多尊,分布在四十多处。其中尤以北山和宝顶山的石刻最多、最精美,被列为全国重点文物保护单位。北山又名龙岗山,距大足县两公里。在晚唐时,由当地官吏韦君靖在山上修建贮粮的「永昌寨」,同时开始凿崖造佛像,现有石刻近万尊。它的中心——「佛湾」造像有
There are many rich and splendid ancient stone carvings in China, among which Dunhuang Thousand-Buddha Cave, Longmen Grottoes and Yungang Grottoes are the most famous ones. There is a place that has aroused great interest of Chinese and foreigners in the past two years. This is Dazu Rock Carvings. It is located in the hilly mountainous area of 160 kilometers northwest of Chongqing City, Sichuan Province, with roads connecting.
