在没有汽车的年代,达官贵人们出行往往是以轿或马车代步,于是有了轿夫和马夫。有了黄包车以后,拉车便被称为车夫,人坐他跑,难保温饱。自从晚清慈禧太后有了第一辆汽车,便诏谕车夫“跪着开!”由此可见车夫在旧社会的地位是多么低下。随着社会的进步和发展,车夫的社会地位也大为提高,受到了人们的尊重,被人们亲切称为驾驶员或师傅,呼唤中透出朴素无华,情意浓浓。
