Gastric mucosal epithelial tumors are one of the most common malignant tumors. Studies on their pathogenesis mostly focus on the mutation and mismatch repair of oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes. Transforming growth factor β1 (TGFβ1) signal transduction disorders, can lead to autoimmune diseases and tumors. We hypothesize that dysfunction of TGFβ1 signaling pathway in gastric mucosa can lead to tumorigenesis and progression. It has been reported that Smad7 is overexpressed in pancreatic tumors and can be suppressed
