The most important issue in the newly renovated commercial covenant is the Sino-British Commercial Treaty and the Sino-American Commercial Treaty, which serve as a reference for other Chinese and foreign commercial covenants. After repeated consultations and hard work, the Qing government also amended the clause concerning the missionary mission of foreign churches in China. This article discusses the changes to these clauses, the reasons and processes for their identification, and the actual effects of the revisions, and makes an appropriate assessment of them
