During the War of Resistance Against Japan, Japan had as many as 1 million combat troops stationed in China. Its military surplus relied on the supply of occupied areas in order to realize its conspiracy of “fighting against China and fighting against war”. Wujiang County, located on the coast of Taihu Lake, is rich in rice. It was designated as one of 28 counties of abundant grain in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui provinces by the Japanese-forfeit authorities and became the source of military grain for the aggressors. The Japanese military began to use the vast majority of Tian Fu as military food, and then forced the purchase price of rice at a low price. In the end, it even sent police and the special government to grab grain in the countryside, causing peasant workers in urban and rural areas to suffer from hunger and suffering. During the “Qingxiang” period, while stepping up the plunder and merciless exploitation, the Japanese and puppet authorities also imposed grain embargoes and “anti-smuggling” to cut off the grain supply for the anti-Japanese troops. This article is based on the archives of Wujiang archives and other related documents and data to reveal the Japanese invasion of rice in the Wujiang area crime.
