The data of 32 commercial banks from 2007 to 2013 are used to study the relationship between bank executives ’financial connection and bank’s risk-taking behavior. The senior executives’ political connections are also included to examine the impact of political connections on their relationship. The results show that there are differences in the impact of different financial connections on bank risks. The higher the proportion of executives with experience in non-bank financial institutions, the higher the default risk of banks. The working experience of policy-oriented banks and joint-stock commercial banks will significantly reduce the bank’s credit risk on the table. At the same time, the experience of joint-stock commercial banks will also significantly increase the loan risk. After the introduction of political connections, we found that the financial linkages will have an even stronger impact on the loan risk in banks with a higher degree of political connection than those with less political connections.
