为了与传统的 RISC 处理器竞争,英特尔推出了64位安腾处理器。但由于在软件支持以及对安腾处理器本身在性能上的竞争力不足,安腾处理器的实际应用并不多。5月29日,英特尔发布了已经正式命名为安腾2处理器的一些测试数据,表示新处理器将能够满足要求最为苛刻的企业级计算的需求。凭借更高的数据速度和增强的微架构,基于安腾2处理器的服务器和工作站的性能预计将是目前基于安腾处理器系统的1.5到2倍;在运行关键企业级应用方面,它的性能也已经超过了 RISC 系统。
In order to compete with the traditional RISC processor, Intel introduced the 64-bit Itanium processor. However, due to the lack of competitiveness in software support and performance of the Itanium processor itself, there are not many applications of Itanium processors. On May 29, Intel released some test data that it has officially named the Itanium 2 processor, saying the new processor will be able to meet the most demanding enterprise computing needs. With higher data rates and enhanced microarchitecture, the performance of Itanium 2-based servers and workstations is expected to be 1.5 to 2 times higher than current Itanium-based systems; in running mission-critical enterprise applications, its Performance has also surpassed the RISC system.
